Hello everyone,

we have received the first offer for our planned photovoltaic system. What do you think about it? Are the materials good and is the price reasonable at the moment? The house is currently under construction.
Roof pitch 35 degrees, east-west orientation.

Best regards

Today, I received an offer for a 10 kWp system.

Self-pickup with all components: roof hooks, rails, cables, connectors, modules, Huawei Sun 10 KTL M1 inverter, storage can be added later, and of course the modules with a 395 heat pump or 450 heat pump.

Price for everything with self-pickup, available immediately, is 6200 euros. Having the roofer install it with connection included costs 8000 euros. Where is the problem?

I’m not allowed to share the link. Google can help.

I haven't considered this option yet. I need to talk to the general contractor to get the roofer’s contact information and ask if they can do it, and then have our electrician connect it.

By the way, suitable Huawei storage systems with 10 kWh capacity are currently available for under 6000 euros.

Even €6,000 is still too expensive when considering the payback period. With an electricity price of 40 cents/kWh and a feed-in tariff of 7.5 cents/kWh, the payback time is about 8 years. If you’re lucky, the system will last another 3–4 years to generate enough "profit" to cover the cost of a new battery storage.

Overall, battery storage systems need to become 50% cheaper or electricity prices need to double. Alternatively, a combination of both adjustments could bring the payback period down to around 5 years, which would provide enough time to refinance the new battery storage.

The electricity price is already well over 50 cents. The electricity price cap only applies until April 2024, so just over a year from now. And it only covers 80 percent of the previous year's consumption.

I have a 10-year warranty on my battery storage system, and I’m glad to have one. It paid off after 5 years. Most Tesla batteries come with a 10-year warranty, and reports of battery damage are very rare. These batteries are used much more intensively than in the technical room of my single-family house. I don’t see any issues with durability, except perhaps with the overpriced Senec products.

Energy prices have been steadily decreasing since October 2022, after the initial panic subsided. We are currently being offered 36 cents per kilowatt-hour for 12-month or 24-month contracts with Vattenfall.

I would be very interested in seeing the calculation that shows the battery pays for itself after five years.
