We are currently planning our kitchen. Personally, I prefer a white, handleless kitchen. My husband thinks that all fingerprints show on it and therefore wants to have stainless steel trim strips to open the doors.
Do you have any experience? What is easier to maintain? And do you prefer gloss or matte?

I find fingerprints on matte surfaces worse because they are not easy to wipe off quickly.
We have a high-gloss finish with recessed handles.
You do need to clean the recessed handles sometimes, but for the same reason as with regular handles: they either collect dust or become sticky after cooking or baking sessions. You can clean them in a minute with a damp cloth.

A recessed handle is definitely easier to maintain than something like a "push to open" system with a completely handleless front.
However, overlay handles are also low-maintenance and are available not only in stainless steel but also painted in various colors. In most cases, they also allow for better cabinet height utilization, since recessed handles take up space.

White would be our preference, but unfortunately, they don’t offer it (at least not as a continuous strip across the entire front).
I don’t quite understand the comment about cabinet height utilization. Choosing recessed handles doesn’t reduce the height at all, does it?

With handleless designs featuring recessed pulls or not, it depends on the manufacturer, the layout (usually a different drawer grid compared to "normal" handles), and so on.
For tall cabinets in handleless kitchens, vertical grip rails are often chosen, which then usually require an additional rail between the tall cabinets. Otherwise, built-in combination refrigerators/freezers typically do not fit properly.
