á Looking for an affordable, sturdy roofing solution (for a terrace, carport, or pavilion)

TolentinoSo, Axel damaged our pavilion, which we used as a temporary patio cover. We were already surprised that the Lidl one lasted this long, but it couldnât withstand Beaufort scale 7-8 winds.
Since we have several items that still need weather protection there, and my wife also likes to sit there sheltered from the weather, I urgently need a replacement.
Iâm not looking for the permanent cover yet, so Iâm searching for something very affordable (under 1000, preferably under 500), but still stable in itself and can be firmly screwed to the ground with metal brackets or something similar. It is important to me that it can stand on its own (at least four posts) because for a temporary solution I donât want to attach it to the house wall.
Dimensions around 3x3 or 4x2.5 meters (10x10 or 13x8 feet). Material doesnât really matter, but wood is preferred since it can be reused later for something else. Roofing material doesnât matter for now.
It should be suitable for self-assembly.
Does anyone in this forum community have experience and can recommend something?
Or should I just go to a timber framing specialist and get advice there?

hanghaus20235 Jan 2023 10:15You might be able to modify a DIY carport from the home improvement store.
Alternatively, you could build one completely DIY. You can do it for under 1000 euros.
For the roof, use either trapezoidal sheet metal or twin-wall polycarbonate sheets.

WilderSueden5 Jan 2023 10:18A carport might be difficult to build, as they are usually available only from 5 meters (16 feet) in length. Therefore, I would recommend a self-build option.

WilderSueden5 Jan 2023 10:26From 5x3m (16x10 feet) upwards, you should be able to get a carport from a DIY store inexpensively and without much complex calculation. Otherwise, the question is... do you even need a structural calculation? My father once built a batch of wooden shelters himself, simply using generously sized beams.
