Hello,

Yesterday we had the selection appointment for our KfW 70 house. Dark gray aluminum roller shutters would suit the dark gray windows and are also good for dirt resistance. However, our window installer said they would get too hot. Our large windows face west. I don’t understand this argument since we have triple glazing. What are your experiences? Venetian blinds with a wind sensor are not an option for us.

Thanks for your answers.

We were only told that they are more prone to scratching.
I can't say whether they get too hot – we have only lived in the house for 2 months, but among other things, we have 8m² (86ft²) of surface area on the south side.

Well, the roller shutters have nothing to do with the triple glazing... I wonder why you mention that...

According to your window installer, what would be the consequence if they get too hot?

White ones are also dirt-resistant... they are all coated anyway...

Hello Endlich,

As far as I know, this is an issue caused by expansion.

Did he say whether it is possible or not?

Hello, regarding resistance to dirt, I can only say that pollen is more visible on dark gray roller shutters than on silver ones (which is why we chose silver roller shutters and blinds, especially since we have very large window areas to shade).

Funny, the window installer and the civil engineer from the Private Builders Association both told us that aluminum roller shutters are more resistant to scratches and do not show wear grooves over time.
Thanks for the reply
