Hello,

we are looking for suitable cabinets for our utility room (Hauswirtschaftsraum) in the basement.

What we have already found:

Laundry tower (brand: Waschturm) – the washing machine and dryer are positioned side by side on an elevated platform, and directly below there is a small drawer to place the laundry basket.

What we are looking for:

We want to install a sink directly next to the washing machine and connect it to the washing machine’s water supply and drainage.

Right next to it (or integrated into one cabinet or cabinet system) there should be a work surface.

On another wall, larger cabinets should be installed for storage.

Which cabinets can you recommend that are affordable (since they will be in the basement) and include the function with the sink?

Kitchen manufacturers often offer something like this as well. Possibly Nobila with the most affordable door front price category?

Nobilia (even though it is the cheapest) will definitely end up being much more expensive than Knoxhult, right?

Another question:

Where would you install the connections?

The water supply and drain for the sink and washing machine—place them where you would normally install the connections for the sink.

Then simply connect the washing machine to both using a T-piece, right? The washing machine will be placed directly next to the sink inside the cabinet.

Advantage: you can quickly reach the faucet under the sink to turn it off.

Where would you place the power outlet for the washing machine?

The cabinet manufacturer for the washing machine and dryer recommends placing the outlets 1.30 m (4 ft 3 in) high directly behind the washing machine.

What do you think? Does it make sense to install the outlets behind the cabinet, or should they be beside it?

Just a note: if you place the washing machine and dryer higher up inside a cabinet, you won’t have any space on top to fold laundry. If you have a laundry area somewhere else, it doesn’t matter. If not, consider this carefully, because that spot would be perfect for folding clothes.

Yes, my wife wanted a raised cabinet for the washing machine and dryer. At first, it wasn't possible. For now, both are standing on the floor.
And the pile of clean laundry on top of the appliances reaches about 60cm (24 inches) high 😀
But that's more of a post-move effect...

A small tip: if you skip the dryer and hang your clothes to dry, you can fold them right after taking them down. That makes it easier to finally get off your backside 😉
