Battery power is a no-go for us because we don’t want to have to replace batteries. That’s why only the wired version is an option, and the doorbell should continue to use the existing acoustic chime so that we still have an audible chime even if the internet goes down.

Sorry, it’s hard for me to explain. The wall is only 30cm (12 inches) deep, and since the electrician will definitely want to place the doorbell centered on the wall, if you stand directly in front of the doorbell (which many people probably do automatically because they don’t realize it has a 180-degree lens), you’d actually be standing about 15cm (6 inches) in front of the door when I open it.

Or am I mistaken?

Another question: which wall would you hang the outdoor light on, and at what height?

On the left or right side? Height 1.80m (6 feet) or 2.00m (6 feet 7 inches)?

I think netuser meant facing the protrusion straight on, not from the side.

Yes, now I understand that we have been talking past each other.

Based on the title, I assumed a "video doorbell," meaning a combined unit installed on the front of the projection.
You are probably referring to a camera separate from the doorbell, or am I completely misunderstanding?

Personally, I would also install the light on the front side of the projection 🙂

It would be better to install it to the left of the door instead.

I have marked the colored points on the drawing so we can avoid any misunderstandings.
