Hello,
we are wondering on which side of the door is the best option to install a video doorbell.
I have attached our floor plan of the entrance area.
There is the option to mount it either on the right side of the front door on the protrusion or on the left side next to the door on the wall.
Which option would you say is better?
A simple Ring, Nest, or Eufy doorbell is planned.

In my experience, using a battery-powered one works well since it doesn’t require power from the house. Battery power is a no-go for us because we don’t want to have to replace batteries. That’s why only the wired version is an option, and the doorbell should continue to use the existing acoustic chime so that we still have an audible chime even if the internet goes down.

I didn’t quite understand that. Do you mean “placing it directly in front of the DOOR…”? Sorry, it’s hard for me to explain. The wall is only 30cm (12 inches) deep, and since the electrician will definitely want to place the doorbell centered on the wall, if you stand directly in front of the doorbell (which many people probably do automatically because they don’t realize it has a 180-degree lens), you’d actually be standing about 15cm (6 inches) in front of the door when I open it.
Or am I mistaken?
Another question: which wall would you hang the outdoor light on, and at what height?
On the left or right side? Height 1.80m (6 feet) or 2.00m (6 feet 7 inches)?

Or am I seeing this wrong?
I think netuser meant facing the protrusion straight on, not from the side.
PS: Just reread:
I would probably prefer the right side, as facing the protrusion straight on. Apparently not, or it should say:
I would probably prefer the right side, that is facing the protrusion straight on. Yes, now I understand that we have been talking past each other.
Based on the title, I assumed a "video doorbell," meaning a combined unit installed on the front of the projection.
You are probably referring to a camera separate from the doorbell, or am I completely misunderstanding?
Personally, I would also install the light on the front side of the projection 🙂

AlexKayn wants to install the video intercom at a 90-degree angle to the door on the recess. This means you would lean your left arm against the door when standing in front of the camera. Meanwhile, thanks to your previous hint, I’ve understood it too 🙂
In my opinion, however, that doesn’t make much sense 🙁
It would be better to install it to the left of the door instead.
