Hi everyone,
we are currently finalizing the specifications for our windows, which standardly come with 2 mushroom-head locking pins. This is described as "burglar-resistant."
Would you generally keep the number of mushroom-head locking pins as is?
Would you increase the number by default, and if so, how many?
Or would you only upgrade the windows on the ground floor or those that are easily accessible?
Thank you very much!

Two units are nothing for a standard-sized window. As already mentioned, that number is sufficient for small bathroom windows.
Here you can see the minimum number required for the different resistance classes:
Exactly. We chose RC2. We also wanted to have a security film installed between the panes to prevent easy break-ins, but that would have exceeded our budget.
On the ground floor and at the balcony doors on the upper floor, we chose RC2 (this was the window manufacturer's recommendation). However, this doesn't help much if, like me, you often go outside through the terrace door in the morning and leave it unlocked throughout the day 😀
A burglary-resistant window comes with a certification (RC2 to RC6 possible). The seller must provide this to you as well. Additionally, I would ask to see the test report (which does not have to be handed over), where the number of locking points and the type of glass used are listed.
If the seller cannot provide this, they likely have no knowledge of security windows.

The outer pane consists of two 4.5mm (0.18 inch) thick glass layers with a film between them.
Then you have RC2N... where the glass isn’t reinforced, but the price difference is actually not that significant...
