Hello dear forum,
The house contract has been signed, the basement contract is upcoming, and now it’s about excavating the slope for the basement.
The excavation volume will be around 210 m³ (275 cubic yards) and does not need to be disposed of – soil class 3.
What costs should I expect for excavation, backfilling, and spreading the remaining soil on the property?
(I only find prices online that include disposal of the excavation and are several years old.)
Has anyone recently dealt with the same issue?
Thank you very much

I only know the machine rates roughly – and these are around 65-90€/h (approximately $70-$95/hr) plus the operator costs another 40-45€/h (around $45-$50/hr).
Long distances are always expensive, whether for travel to the site or waste disposal.

That’s not even enough to cover the diesel fuel.

And I believe he easily handles 210m3 (275 cubic yards) in an 8-hour day. At 110€ per hour, that amounts to 880€. That works out to €4.20 per cubic meter, and I think he doesn’t even need the full 8 hours for it.
I just reviewed our quote for the earthworks again. It’s from July, so it’s current.
Excavation: €10.00 per cubic meter (m³)
Delivery, installation, and compaction of gravel: €10.00 per cubic meter (m³)
Delivery, installation, and compaction of crushed stone: €30.00 per cubic meter (m³)
All prices are net plus VAT. Travel to and from the site is not charged, as the civil engineer is already working on multiple sites within the new development area.
