Good morning,
I just received a steep price increase from my energy provider enercity, raising the cost to 15 cents per kWh starting in August. That’s really tough, and I think prices will rise even further.
It’s a strange feeling to be thrown back so quickly into an energy supply situation where you have to figure out how to keep the house warm. It seems to me that the government has given up on the goal of enabling everyone to adequately cover at least their basic needs.
Goodbye central supply structures; now the winner is whoever has solar panels and a heat pump in their new build, while the others are left out.
Welcome back, coal heating 😕
Frustrated regards,

What do you do with all the gas and electricity?
How many kWh is €120 for you? For us, that would be about 4900. 😳 That seems unlikely, even if you only price self-generated electricity at 7-10 cents per kWh. Did you forget a comma?
Still, I think €120 is a lot for 100m² (1076 sq ft), but it also depends on the number of people...

Knautnaundorf4 Aug 2022 20:29The gas deal with Qatar has fallen through. Habeck lied to all of us when he announced short-term deliveries from Qatar.
Qatar is not making us a good offer. The deal is off.
Now things are starting to get tight with the grand promises made by our Minister of Economic Affairs.
No ships, no LNG terminals, no new fuel rods for the nuclear power plants, no wood, no gas, no oil from Russia. And now, no gas from Qatar either.
Difficult, I would say.

Now the grand promises of our Minister of Economic Affairs are becoming increasingly problematic.

Difficult, I would say. I find it quite amusing how much you focus your criticism on Habeck, even though the Greens have only been in government for a few months and the dependency was created by other parties. I am not a Green voter, but I think the work they have done so far is good.

Of course, overall we are doing well, especially when looking at it globally. I think your post is great, which is why I gave it a “love.” However, I have not agreed with or used the statement you quoted for years. In my view, it’s a conversation stopper; it seems to me that it’s used to pacify citizens and distract from political failures.
We complain because people in Germany will have to live in cold apartments this coming winter? Hold on, there are countries where people don’t even have apartments (and that’s true for us as well), let alone heating. Healthy diets with vegetables, fruit, and so on are too expensive? Wait a moment—in other countries, you can’t buy any vegetables or fruit at all. Children have to go to school without breakfast, and there’s no free breakfast provided at school (which certainly affects cognitive abilities and concentration)? So what—children in other countries aren’t able to attend school at all.
In my opinion, the goal should be to improve living conditions both for ourselves and for people in other countries. We shouldn’t remain silent in the face of politically caused declines in living standards just because, overall, we are doing better compared to someone else in the world.
It’s bad enough that poverty in Germany has become so visible since the various health insurance reforms—you can see it in people’s teeth now—and we shouldn’t have to smell it too, because poorer people can no longer afford to shower or simply don’t want to/can’t shower in cold apartments (or only take relatively cold showers). Just my opinion and assessment, subjective. ;-)
