Hello
we are currently building our new house.
We had the first appointment with the electrician, and for the smart home system, he recommended Free@home.
The electrician does not offer KNX.
What would you recommend? Should we go with Free@home or install a wireless smart home system ourselves later?

Then you don’t need to consider Wi-Fi doorbells and similar devices below professional solutions, as they all take longer, sometimes much longer. According to test reports, the Ring doorbell connected to the Echo Show is very fast,
and the Nest doorbell connected to the Nest Hubs is fast as well.
I have already looked at the better doorbells extensively,
but haven’t found one that also shows me the video when I’m on the go.
The only one that was still interesting was the Doorbird,
but I have read a lot of very negative reviews about it (poor camera, for example).
The Doorbird, for example, can’t be displayed on smart displays (we don’t have a suitable place for the Doorbird indoor station).
With the Doorbird, we would only get the video on our phones or the tablet that lies in the living room.

I use an Omada system (router, 2 switches, and 2 access points, soon 4) and I can’t complain except that the maximum number of groups and ACLs is a bit limited. On the other hand, I don’t know Unifi, so I can’t compare :p The question also always depends on what exactly you want to do with it and how experienced you are. Setting up the 5 VLANs with ACLs for segmentation wasn’t 100% intuitive, but it works great. So you would recommend the Omada system?
I had been thinking of using AVM (we really can’t mount any APs on the ceiling or high up on the wall).
I don’t need much,
good Wi-Fi coverage is important to me (but it doesn’t have to be high-end),
and the ability to specify an alternative DNS server (which is possible with AVM).
I don’t think we need VLANs (what practical use would they have?)

and be able to specify an alternative DNS server (also possible with AVM)May I ask why? (just out of curiosity)How is it best to handle the landline?
We only have the phone connection in the basement.
How would you do it?
If we used the AVM devices, I would connect the phone line to the Fritzbox and use the Fritzfon.
What is the range of DECT?
Are there any alternatives that don’t require running phone cables everywhere?

To access websites that my Internet provider has blocked without having to use a VPN 🙂Which provider does that? Pacc666 schrieb:
