Hello
we are currently building our new house.
We had the first appointment with the electrician, and for the smart home system, he recommended Free@home.
The electrician does not offer KNX.
What would you recommend? Should we go with Free@home or install a wireless smart home system ourselves later?

ok thanks
we have enhanced burglary protection on the windows
I can still imagine installing a camera at the front of the house, but I actually don’t want to be recorded in the garden
If burglars aren’t deterred by it, a camera hardly makes sense (unless you just enjoy having one)
even if the burglar is visible on the camera, you probably won’t catch them anyway.
We don’t have a high burglary rate here
@squier23 which video doorbell do you use? “Enhanced” burglary protection basically means it just takes longer for the intruder to get inside. It makes sense if you’re alerted before they succeed.
And you’re not filming yourself—you would only activate the surveillance when you’re away or at night. Since you want a smart home, you’ll probably set up different modes for presence and absence.
I have the eufy Doorbell with the dual camera, though I’m not sure of the exact model name now. I still need to test whether I can integrate it satisfactorily with ioBroker; if not, I’ll return it.

I’m currently interested in the Eufy as well.
If you have a smart display (Echo or Nest), how fast does the Eufy’s video show up there?
Is the video displayed automatically?
Which assistant do you think is better, Google or Alexa? No, I don’t have a smart display (yet), I plan to integrate the video via ioBroker on a central tablet or display it through an app on my smartphone. When I actively request the video, it takes exactly 5 seconds to establish the connection. I still need to test how fast it works otherwise.
We use Alexa simply because I received an Echo as a gift at some point and built on that. By now, the constant requests to review my latest orders are annoying. When I have more time, I want to look into open-source voice assistants, but for now, I’m sticking with Alexa (mainly because it’s already set up and works reasonably well).
I think 5 seconds is quite a long time for the image to appear.
I don’t have any voice assistant yet, so I’m basically starting from scratch.
If I choose Alexa, I’ll probably go with the Ring doorbell and possibly the cameras (if needed).
If I go with Google, then the Nest doorbell and cameras (if needed).
If these are the same devices (and not a third-party brand like eufy), then it should definitely work smoothly without any delays.

May I ask what Unifi does better than Omada? Unifi is quite a bit more expensive than Omada.I use an Omada system (router, 2 switches, and 2 access points, soon increasing to 4) and I can’t really complain, except that the maximum number of groups and ACLs is a bit limited for my needs. However, I’m not familiar with Unifi, so I can’t really compare :p The question always depends on what exactly you want to do with it and how experienced you are. Setting up the 5 VLANs with ACLs for separation wasn’t 100% intuitive, but it runs great.
