We built our house four years ago, but unfortunately, we didn’t consider our living area well enough. Now we’re stuck and don’t know what to do. The wall color and the placement of the sofa (Sofacompany Dane 2.85m x 2.85m (9.35 ft x 9.35 ft)) are giving us headaches. Maybe you have a bright idea for arranging this space.
Who are we? A family of five.

A separate TV room would be really great. Unfortunately, we don’t have the necessary space for that. Although I must say that we (adults) don’t watch TV during the day or spend time in that area. But! The space is not exactly “just around the corner,” so it’s always noticeable.

Personally, I would keep the TV in this spot and not reduce its size, but install a long wall-mounted lowboard underneath. Remove the small shelves and add a different lamp plus a colored accent wall, along with some matching cushions or a throw. By the way, almost all modern TVs support the "picture" function.
You are all heretics! :p
Seriously, if you find having a TV in the living room so unpleasant, there are many ways to hide it. I mean, there is even someone here in the forum who built a custom lowboard with a lift for the TV. It simply slides out when needed.
It’s also possible to hang a real picture in front of it and then slide it aside when you want to watch. That’s probably not too difficult to manage.
