Hello everyone!
We have many floor-to-ceiling windows and installed hardwood flooring. Now the question is how to design the transition between the windows and the hardwood. The flooring installer suggested black baseboards since the windows are black. Are there other options? Best regards

I "fear" the standard solution is a silicone joint.

Just like it is done with tiles and other floor coverings: silicone or a quarter round molding 🙂

I’m wondering if I did something wrong? I simply installed the floating parquet flooring just below the frames of all the floor-to-ceiling windows and the patio door. This way, it has room for expansion, and I get a clean edge without using silicone. What color silicone would have been appropriate for smoked oak and white window frames? Although it was really challenging to get the exact heights and spacing right everywhere, I like how it turned out.

Wood floor with dark scratches and cracks, white baseboard; blue cable lying on top.

White baseboard over dark wood floor with wood grain.

Take a look at the company minileiste from Austria. They offer very stylish profiles. We will use them throughout the entire ground floor.
