We built our house four years ago, but unfortunately, we didn’t consider our living area well enough. Now we’re stuck and don’t know what to do. The wall color and the placement of the sofa (Sofacompany Dane 2.85m x 2.85m (9.35 ft x 9.35 ft)) are giving us headaches. Maybe you have a bright idea for arranging this space.

Who are we? A family of five.

Sorry for the mess
😀 😀 😀 You're probably like that too, maybe you even do triathlons and say you're so out of shape...

It's incredible how similar that is.
Yes, put a room divider there. There are countless options, from Kallax shelving units to drywall or glass partitions and beyond.

In any case, rotate the corner sofa… as it is already shown in the plan! That way, the floor-to-ceiling window will be unobstructed, and the TV and plant can stay on the opposite side.

No, the room already feels too open for her now. She wants it to be cozier. So, a shelf between the seating area and the dining space, and plant shelves in front of the window. Color, yes, there should be something warmer on the wall, but I would say only as an accent.

The back of the upholstered furniture already acts (for now) like a room divider, and rearranging is easy to do. A different lamp... one that hangs lower over the coffee table and doesn’t cause glare.

As the couch is currently positioned, it is open to the entrance of the living and dining area. Could the couch be rotated as shown on the floor plan? Wall color light green or gray.

Hmm, I think it’s uncomfortable for those sitting there because the space still opens up behind them. I believe you’ll still need a room divider. But try it out first.
When choosing the gray, make sure it’s warm rather than cool—that means more red tones and fewer blue tones.

I will try it out today, after a swim in the lake. The wall paint should at least not be so dark—we’ve had that before... In the mornings, I always felt like I was looking into a dark hole... typical for west-facing windows.
