ᐅ How to Protect Painted Walls with Wall Liner During a Move?

Pinkiponk2 Jul 2022 08:42As some of you may already know, we have decided to switch from textured wallpaper to painter’s fleece on the walls. The walls look really, really nice. 🙂 However, what I hadn’t considered when choosing painter’s fleece is that these walls seem quite "delicate" to me and don’t forgive dents, bumps, or fingerprints as easily as textured wallpaper does—or am I mistaken? Until now, I’ve only lived with textured wallpaper, structural wallpapers, exposed concrete, or various plastered walls. (And unfortunately without a butler to iron my newspaper before I read it, so I don’t get printer’s ink on my fingers. ;-) )
Now to my question: We expect to move into the new house at the end of this month and will hire a professional moving company, but I would still like to protect the walls further, at least in the hallways and on the stairs. We don’t really want to simply repaint after damages because there is a risk that the repaired spots will look different even with the same color.
How have you handled this? (This may be off topic: Some of you live with children and pets. How do you protect "expensive" walls in such cases? Any tips or tricks?)
I haven’t found very helpful advice on this through online searches.

That’s exactly why I applied textured plaster on the hallway walls. It’s much more durable than the original gypsum plaster.
In the other rooms, we were careful during the move. A few minor damages occurred, but they’re either hidden behind furniture or I touched them up with a brush and paint after moving in.
What’s happening now is just part of living in the apartment. We have a dog and a cat, so some wear and tear is inevitable. The cat especially leaves dirty paw prints on the walls below the window when coming inside. In autumn, I plan to apply something else there, probably a washable coating.

we will hire a professional moving company, That’s a very good way to ensure that nothing goes wrong. Professional companies should have a strong duty of care and responsibility towards other people’s property. It’s not their first time doing this, which makes them at least a reliable company.
