ᐅ Do radiators always need to be installed under windows in new constructions?

Rumbi441Hello,
we are currently planning and looking to reduce costs by replacing the underfloor heating with regular radiators. However, we do not want to place them in front of the windows. This raises the question: Is it necessary in a new timber frame construction to install the radiators below the windows, or is it equally effective to position them elsewhere in the room? The size of each room is under 30 sqm (320 sq ft), and the windows are triple-glazed. We are not building according to KfW standards, but the carpenter mentioned that due to the wood construction, the walls are thick and well insulated.
Do you have any experience with this?

This is only done to avoid losing space elsewhere. Normally, nothing is placed in front of the window. You can sit wherever you like.

Hutchinson12326 May 2022 20:00In our row house built in 2000, on the ground floor there is only one radiator under a window: in the guest toilet.
In the hallway, the radiator is on the interior wall facing the kitchen; in the kitchen, it is on the interior wall facing the hallway; and in the living room, one radiator is next to the patio door and another directly behind the main entrance door from the hallway.
It works well so far and I personally quite like it.

Radiators are placed there because that’s where ventilation happens through the window.Skipping underfloor heating? 🙄 Okay, maybe in a passive house, but definitely not in a standard new build in 2022!
