Hello everyone,

I had my foundation slab made by someone, and it now slopes down by 4 cm (1.6 inches) over 7 m (23 feet) (I know, this shouldn’t happen).
To properly install the sectional door, I obviously need a level surface.
The foundation slab was then surface sealed, meaning it was smoothed with a round trowel, and it is quite smooth.

What tool can I use to grind down 4 cm (1.6 inches)?
Thank you very much.

If there is steel reinforcement inside the foundation slab, the 4cm (1.5 inches) less cover at the appropriate location will be insufficient.
Really 4cm (1.5 inches)? It seems that during the foundation slab’s construction, not only water has flowed 🤨
So grinding is probably no longer an option. Heavy machinery will be needed, meaning chipping, milling, or similar methods.

Is there an alternative possibility to compensate for the unevenness of the foundation slab by adding material on top? (filling up)

Hello, thank you very much!
In theory, it would be possible to raise the floor slab from above, but for this, the smoothed surface would need to be ground down and then leveled with screed concrete, correct?
Thank you.

It only needs to be level in the area of the gate, i.e., 10 cm (4 inches) wide. Then use an angle grinder. However, there are leveling compounds that adhere to any surface and can also level out 4 cm (1.5 inches), but they are not cheap.

If the floor slopes toward the door, that’s not a bug, it’s a feature!

But not in the way the original poster describes. (Not toward the gate, but along the length of the gate.)

However, not everyone has a 7 m (23 feet) wide garage.
