Hello,

unfortunately, I only find older posts when it comes to the topic of kitchen quality. We are currently in the middle of kitchen planning and I wonder if an IKEA kitchen is still always of lower quality than Nobilia or Nolte. We are considering buying only the carcasses and kitchen fronts from IKEA, with appliances and countertops purchased separately. Can anyone share their experience with this? In our case, this would save about 5-8k euros, which I consider significant, but since the kitchen is expected to last 20-30 years, quality is a major concern.

In older posts, IKEA kitchens did not fare well in terms of quality, so I wanted to find out what the situation is today.

Maybe someone here can share their experience with IKEA kitchens.

Thank you very much

The fronts of the IKEA kitchen (at least in my case) look uneven and wavy at an angle. This is quite different from all the other kitchens in my family. The edge banding on the bottom and top edges is machine-applied and finished very poorly (inaccurate, at least some sanding/polishing should have been done here).
I believe my Ringhult front is foil, but you probably need lacquer. That might be better. However, my old Nobilia kitchen was also foil and noticeably better.

Also, here are some pictures of my kitchen countertop shared by @ypg, planned quite late (or rather rearranged), with the gas and water connections still just fitting. 😉

Modern kitchen with white upper cabinet, green glass backsplash, black sink and kettle.

Kind regards

The haggling (which includes unclear advice, "we'll plan it later," then prices only come afterwards, and then negotiations begin, among other things) at the kitchen showroom was THE reason I chose to shop at IKEA. However, even if I estimate my assembly, travel, and other time at just $10 per hour, I didn't really save any money.

I am a fan of Ikea kitchens.
One of the main reasons is this: The furniture costs exactly what it costs. A cabinet costs xx euros, a basic setup with shelves costs a total of xx euros; fully equipped with drawers, xx euros. Fixed prices. No total price minus daily discount minus manager-special discount. At Ikea, I know what I am getting into and can decide for myself what the final bill will be – in a kitchen showroom (no, I know not all studios are like this!) I constantly felt like I wasn’t getting the best price.

By now, I have bought 4 (5) Ikea kitchens and have assembled 4 of them already 😉
Careful assembly is important. I have no complaints about the stability, the hinges hold well, the drawers slide smoothly and don’t stick. Ikea appliances can be good, but they don’t have to be – we have the dishwasher and cooktop in the kitchenette from Ikea, and they work perfectly. In the fitted kitchen of the rented apartment, all appliances are from Ikea – the tenants are happy.
In my opinion, the ability to expand also speaks in favor of Ikea. Maybe the same fronts won’t be available after a few years; but at least the interior fittings can be gradually expanded (as long as Metod still exists...).
So far, I have always bought the cheapest or second-cheapest fronts because they were either sufficient for the intended use (laundry room...) or I simply liked them best. I haven’t had any problems yet with worn coatings or anything like that.

I really like Ikea … but how do you actually install a kitchen island or a built-in dishwasher without completely losing your mind??

I currently have an IKEA kitchen and somewhat regret it.

I also posted a review, including one about an IKEA cabinet, which was relatively expensive compared to the quality.

If my entire kitchen were of that quality, I would have replaced it by now 😉
Otherwise, it is sufficient for our utility room, where there is a full kitchen unit.
