Hello,
In my garage, there is a very rough concrete floor that is 3 years old. It has many grooves about 5mm-10mm (0.2-0.4 inches) deep, as if the previous owner wanted to increase grip for the tires.
I would like to have a neat, smooth surface.
Do you have any tips on how I can achieve this? I would prefer to do it myself to save costs.
Thanks!
Marius

Looks interesting but intentional.
However, if standard tiles are already ruled out for cost reasons, then the floor will probably have to stay as it is.
Self-leveling compound/industrial floor coating costs significantly more.
What about the build-up height? You can't just apply any thickness, considering the garage door clearance.
Is this supposed to be a bonded screed or is it the foundation?
By the way, just to mention, getting 50 sqm (538 sq ft) perfectly level as a layperson usually ends badly…

The previous owner wanted to install a 5cm (2 inch) screed and then apply a surface coating. Would that be a good plan? Sure, that is a plan. But it’s not cheaper than tiling over leveling compound.
Would you still have the 6cm (2.4 inch) height available for the screed in the driveway? You probably don’t want a step, right?

henning18117 Apr 2022 11:07Good day,
our garage is also 54m2 (580 sq ft). I bought cheap tiles at Hornbach. They are called Bodenfliese Feinkorn Triton grey 200, 30x30cm (12x12 inches), and cost less than 10 euros per m2 (less than 1 USD per sq ft). This flooring has withstood really heavy vehicles for three years now.
Best regards
