Hello everyone,

Instead of having separate controls for the underfloor heating (which should be positioned higher than the switches), we planned to integrate them into the switch panels. In our electrical planning, I always specified that the controllers should be placed at the very top of the panel (which is how it currently is).

On Friday, I noticed that our electrician installed them as follows:

Light switch
Underfloor heating controller
Socket(s)

Now, almost every room has the underfloor heating controllers in a different position.

The electrician refers to his supplement to the plan, where it is described exactly as listed, while I am referring to the drawing.

To change this again (the cover plates are not yet installed), he estimates costs of about 450€ including VAT.

Did you make sure that everything essentially has a specific place, or am I just being too picky because it bothers me visually?

I have not discussed this further with the electrician yet and wanted to hear your opinions first.

For practical usability, the light switch should be placed first. In my case, all light switches are at a standard height, vacuum cleaner outlets are at 30cm (about 12 inches) height (you do have to bend down, but you won’t accidentally touch the outlet when reaching for the light switch), and underfloor heating controls are positioned at around 150cm (about 59 inches) height, so the settings can be comfortably viewed.

Basically, it was planned as you described. However, we didn’t want to have the controls for the underfloor heating separate, as we currently don’t, and we prefer it that way.

So we discussed with the electrician to have them integrated into the control panel strip, with the heating controls placed at the very top.

Now he did it differently and refers to his supplementary sheet.

Should we leave it as is or have it corrected again?

If this can be settled with 450€ and you won’t be upset about it afterwards, I would probably have it done.

But how many switches are there in total? Are all of them already installed in the house?

I’m not upset about it, I’m just wondering if it might bother me later because I’m dealing with it now.

There are 12 switches, and all are finished except for the cover plates.

You need to consider that you will never actually operate the switches for the underfloor heating. If you do, your heating system will consume too much electricity.

Personally, I would completely omit them—they would just get in the way for me. If you think that goes too far, place them in the least important or most inconspicuous location.
