HubiTrubi407 Apr 2022 00:48Hello everyone,
Now that our house is almost finished, we still need a solution for our gable windows (see photo). The problem is that we have roller shutters on the rectangular window below, but the triangular gable windows above don’t have any coverings. Since this is on the south side, it will be bright, but also very hot in summer, and in addition, it should be possible to darken them in the evenings (there is also such a window in the children’s room). I received an offer from a local company for a honeycomb blind, custom-made, but due to the size, the warranty is excluded, and the price is nearly 700 euros (including installation), which seems expensive at first glance. My question is: are there alternatives or does anyone have ideas about what options are available here? Many thanks in advance! HubiTrubi40

You could simply stretch a fabric screen under the window up to the edge at the ceiling (like a roller blind).

Vertical blinds as curtains, which were quite expensive. Later I covered the windows with films, which was cheap but not very effective. The final solution was an exterior roller blind. Extremely expensive.

I am also unsure about the cellular blinds being offered. In the end, you pay a lot of money and the effectiveness is moderate. What bothers me the most, however, is the exclusion of warranty. That really shouldn’t be allowed.
@11ant thanks for the tip about the spring roller blind. I will definitely consider it again.
