Hello,

I am currently replacing all switches and sockets. So far, this hasn’t been a problem and everything is working smoothly.

Only the switch in the bathroom is puzzling me.

Attached are photos of the old switch and the new one.
L is clear. However, the new switch does not have an N like the old one.
L is also the live wire, which I have verified.

No matter whether I connect the blue or brown wire on the right or left, when I operate the switch, the circuit breaker trips.

Does anyone have any advice?

Edit:

I have this one from Kopp:

PARIS – indicator switch, color: matte black

The two-way switch does not receive a neutral or ground wire, only the lamp does. The question is, do you actually need a two-way switch? It looks like there is only one light to turn on and off...

A two-way switch controls a light from two different switches. This is not the case here. This is a standard single-pole switch, meaning one switch controls one light.

A miracle considering this statement:

Or is this the wrong one and I need this one?

You don’t have either of those. You have the 5036 from Kopp. Get one of the other two and just reconnect it, then it should work. The only difference is the indicator light, which is red or white.

Do you always connect both blue and brown wires together on the left or right side?

A short circuit between L and N will obviously trip the breaker…

Leave the blue (N) wire out of the switch.
