Who is currently building and still installing gas despite the current situation?
What are the reasons for choosing gas instead of an air-to-water heat pump?
Our shell construction is underway, and I am not excited about a heat pump.
No one can look into the crystal ball, but I believe that gas will remain indispensable for the next decades.

In my opinion, you are taking a significant risk thinking in terms of decades. Definitely for the next 10 years, maybe 15 years, but in my view, rather not for 20 years...
The only real motivation can basically be financial (lower initial investment). Solar thermal is more of a fig leaf; in terms of content, it always falls short compared to photovoltaic systems.

In new construction, I also see very few reasons to use gas, unless you are building at the absolute lowest budget and need to cut costs everywhere. However, this will likely lead to a lot of trouble and expenses in the medium term. There is a political drive to switch everything to electricity. Accordingly, you can expect that a gas heating system like this will no longer be allowed to be replaced by a new gas heating system. Whether that will always be sensible is another question. Even in 15 or 20 years, there will still be many unrenovated old buildings that can be heated much more efficiently with gas than with electricity generated from gas.

Otherwise, I can't think of any fairly regular forum members. There are a few who were still building with gas several years ago, but new construction using gas is becoming a dying breed for the various reasons mentioned multiple times.
What do you think are the reasons in favor of gas? Saying "I don’t like heat pumps" isn’t an argument for gas but rather against heat pumps.
