Hello everyone,

I am currently looking for a ceiling light with a motion sensor to install under our house entrance canopy.

We have had an electrical connection installed here (center of the canopy) and would like to install a lamp with a motion sensor.

It feels like there is absolutely NOTHING available on the market...

Has anyone had a similar experience and could share how they approached this?

We are looking for a square-shaped lamp in anthracite, but so far I can only find wall lights that are not suitable for ceiling installation.

Is there possibly a way to buy a lamp WITHOUT a motion sensor and control it separately?

I quickly found two motion sensor lights that could possibly be mounted on the ceiling. 😉

I saw both as well – the one on the right costs around €120 (about $130) and as far as I know, the one on the left isn’t suitable for ceiling installation.

But yes – there are definitely lights out there, it’s not like there aren’t any... I just wanted to spend around €50 to €80 (about $55 to $90) max. Also, square and anthracite color – probably a lot to ask for that price range 😀

Well, sometimes you just have to bite the bullet... :p

By the way, I installed two LED floodlights inside the bulkhead. A BMW logo is placed right in the middle between them. It works great and looks nice. I believe one spotlight cost just under 14.00 euros. I was also able to choose the color temperature, which was very important for my wife.

Modern dark door with vertical glass window, flanked by red flowers in black planters.

By the way, I installed two LED floodlights in the front recess. A BMW logo is placed in the middle between the two. It works great and looks good. I believe each spotlight cost just under 14.00 euros. I was also able to choose the color temperature, which was very important to my wife.

Would it be possible to implement something like this afterward? That is, to extend the cable we have in the middle to the left and right? I'm always interested in making changes after the fact, since at the beginning it's rare to plan everything perfectly, and often other solutions become apparent later on.

I am very unsure when it comes to electrical work...

Of course, if you can access the top, you can install the motion sensor in the center and then run a cable from it to each recessed spotlight. Possibly with a wire, which makes it easier. You just need good access from above. 🙂

Ceiling light, square-shaped, anthracite, with adjustable color temperature available from Philips Hue … just needs the motion sensor and Hue Bridge.
