ᐅ Aligning a House on a Plot: North-South or East-West – What to Consider?

Hello everyone, we have a plot of land of 1178 m2 (12682 sq ft). We would like to build in a way that allows for a second house in the future—as an option only, without any concrete plans at this time. We are currently considering four "sketched" layouts. Our current preference is the red option, oriented north-south on the west half of the plot. We believe this would provide good natural light. Alternatively, we are also considering the green option, oriented east-west on the south half. In our opinion, the other two options don’t make much sense. If a second house were added, we would be quite "sandwiched" here.

But here, I would immediately dismiss that idea. However, in the end, it will be counted as well 🙂 I always include it from the very start 😉

Then you are entitled to make a better suggestion. Simply saying it’s not nice is easy for anyone. Or even placing a house right in the middle, completely missing the point. 😉On the contrary. There is no reason to plan for two houses. So why would anyone ruin their land and house like that?M

A solution without any mess is supposed to be found. For that, in my opinion, some additional information about the streets and paths around the area would still be needed.

Because that’s how it’s meant to be. Is this some kind of masochism?

WilderSueden22 Mar 2022 11:02If it is truly intended, then so be it. Still, I would carefully consider what compromises might have to be made "in case that maybe in 30 years..."
Who knows if the children will really want to stay in the area, if they even want to build, or if you yourself will still be living there…
