Hello everyone,

My wife and I have been looking for a house builder who can realize our house in the American style (New England style) for some time.

Many prefab home builders say they can build in this style, but when we ask for reference houses, their examples are quite limited.

So, the question is whether anyone can recommend a house builder? Preferably from the southern region.

We were in contact with Greenville, but decided against them due to their unusual upfront planning fees and contract structure.

We really liked Rörvikshus, but unfortunately, it is too expensive for us. Does anyone have experience with Rörvikshus? Are the construction costs justified?

Best regards,

Where do you see the special features in the construction details that differ from the usual execution?
It should look like in the link from Rörvikshus: wide window frames inside and outside, wood that is not overly smooth-sanded, just the fine details...

In the end, we chose to build with solid construction and only incorporated a few architectural elements from an American-style house because my husband wasn’t very enthusiastic. However, I had requested quotes from Rörvikshus, Greenville, and Bostonhaus (a small company based in the Berlin area that only builds American-style houses). There was surprisingly a lot of negative feedback about Eskjohus online. Danhaus might still offer something similar at affordable prices. Baufritz has a type of Cape Cod house in their reference portfolio, but they are generally very expensive and tend to target eco-friendly and healthy living customers. Personally, I would then rather try building smaller with Rörvikshus or give Greenville a chance; they offer a lot of choices matching the style during the specification phase, unlike typical prefabricated house builders who mainly provide typical German or very modern finishes. I’m curious to see how your project progresses—your design also appealed to me a lot!

Thank you for your opinion. We would have chosen Rörvikshus immediately. Their houses are great and their representatives excellent. However, the price didn’t work out.

I haven’t heard that they are particularly expensive for their type. Hopefully, you are not comparing them to standard prefabricated houses?

No, they are not particularly expensive – on the contrary. Still, it’s too much for us, as "our" house is quite elaborate.
