Hello,
today we looked at a sofa in a furniture store (picture attached). It was labeled "Mira S Sonder." We were told it is from a German quality manufacturer, but they did not want to reveal the brand name.

For further research on the quality, we would now like to find out who the manufacturer is. Does anyone have any idea how we could find this out or maybe even know it already?

Regards,
Ole

I don’t expect anyone to know, but I’m happy to be surprised. Even if you find out that it’s manufacturer XY, that doesn’t say much about the quality of this product. Obviously, the sofa was made as a no-name product specifically for Möbel Kraft. To keep the price low, cheaper materials are often used than usual. However, I wonder what serious defect would not be apparent within the 2-year warranty period.

You could have checked the quality directly by trying the seat yourself. How is the workmanship, how are the seams, any screws, are there sharp edges on the frame, etc.? In such cases, the brand name is secondary.
With high-quality furniture, the manufacturer’s name is usually somewhere “engraved” or labeled anyway.

But isn’t the main goal to identify the manufacturer because of a planned online order? (People tend to approach things from their own perspective;) )

They could at least communicate that openly…

No, the manufacturer would risk damaging their brand name.

Thank you for your feedback.
As a layperson, I don’t feel capable of truly assessing the quality of a sofa. Of course, I have done some research, but I still consider myself inexperienced in this area. Therefore, I thought it would be helpful to know the manufacturer. I believe a high-quality upholstered piece of furniture should last 15 to 20 years. I suspect there are differences in quality that may not be apparent within the first two years.

Regarding buying online: we do not plan to order the furniture online. However, if there are online offers for the same furniture that are significantly (!) lower than those at the furniture store, we would at least consider negotiating the price.

That’s unrealistic. The typical useful lifespan is more like 5 years. Of course, it depends. For retirees who sit on it all day, it’s different than for working people.
