Hello to all window builders, I want to upgrade my PVC windows from double glazing to triple glazing. For this, I need to replace the glazing beads (square white) from 24 mm (1 inch) to 44 mm (1.7 inches) glazing thickness. I have already ordered the triple glazing. My problem is that I can find the right glazing beads online, but I cannot buy them. On every site where I have found them, you can only select glazing beads through a window configurator, but not purchase them individually. Can someone help me with my problem? Thanks in advance.

Why does everyone always say whether the fittings will hold up? Of course, they hold up. The fittings for the window and balcony door are the same, so does the larger balcony door break out?
Instead of reacting stubbornly like a 6-year-old, one could answer the questions. 🙁

@Suzuki65
You haven’t mentioned anything about window sizes or the year the building was constructed, so I’ll be specific.
Our triple-glazed doors weigh about 80 kg (176 lbs) each as a sash, and when they are open, leverage forces act on your
how old??? frames and fixed points? Just take a look at the weight of your new panes.
No one here means any harm, this is a forum, and you are free to do whatever you want.

Hello, the windows are from 2008. They are made of PVC, and the pane size is 1.02 m x 0.68 m (40 inches x 27 inches).

Hello Suzuki65,
of course you can easily replace the panes. In terms of weight, the sash with the new glass will not weigh more than 30 kg (66 lbs). Since the fittings are probably designed for 100 kg (220 lbs), you have enough margin.
Find a window manufacturer who works with Rehau profiles and ask if they can sell you the desired glazing beads and, if so, what measurements they require. If you can properly position the panes yourself, do it yourself; if not, have a window specialist or carpenter do it.

This whole approach makes sense, for example, when an uninsulated house is now to be insulated and the windows are already fairly modern and suitable for triple glazing. You will definitely avoid the mess and additional work involved in replacing the entire window.
