Hello,
due to the announcement of a very windy weekend, I’m wondering whether you raise or lower your roller shutters.
So far, I’ve always kept them down. They do rattle a bit then. Since the upcoming storm is expected to be even stronger, I’m considering whether it might be better to raise them. Opinions online are mixed.
What do you do? Good luck, and I hope everything stays safe for you 🙂

Well, show me someone who leaves the garden completely clean after dealing with firewood and then fills in those two huge root holes…..Well, comprehensive coverage mentality doesn’t come without reason, but I didn’t even have a chainsaw at home. Above all, it was just one option.

Besides, that was only one option. What does that have to do with an all-inclusive mentality or whether I have a chainsaw at home? Seriously…I can cut the firewood myself; disposing of the small branches is the bigger problem. Nobody wants to do that work, thinking “it could be done for free.”

The two trees in my garden didn’t care whether the blind was down or not—they still fell over… 🙁 You can’t buy empathy in the refrigerated section.

You can’t buy empathy from a refrigerated shelfExactly....I find this whole “full insurance mentality” rather cheeky – what’s the point of that? And if you think about that so-called super helpful “tip,” you’d realize it’s nonsense. Those two trees (softwood = usually poor firewood) might provide around 300 € worth of firewood, which the “recipients” would then still have to cut and haul away themselves. Of course, they’ll then have to dispose of all the branches and cuttings (2-3 van loads). Nowadays, no one volunteers to do that... Posting such an offer on e*Kleinanzeigen is just making a fool of myself. Or maybe I attract the “I give great prices on everything” type at my place. I once tried to find garden help; the first person to respond wanted to make me a “great offer” to paint my roof tiles (I actually needed someone to tidy up the garden). Apparently, that was a side business alongside scrap collecting.
And two fallen trees already cause quite a bit of damage to the surroundings. So, my concern that hopefully everything will be covered by insurance is understandable. Still, it’s frustrating—I used to have a small “woodland” on the side, and I had already cut down two of those trees at the neighbor’s insistence (you wouldn’t believe how the garden looks afterward). The firewood is still lying unsorted on the meadow. I took over the house with another fallen tree, which had been cut into pieces and left on the meadow for two years (completely overgrown). At some point, I just wanted it to look nice...
Well, it will probably still take some time.
