ᐅ Front door with 5-point or 3-point automatic locking system?

Hello,

we need to decide on the front door for our new build.

We can choose between:

A door with a 5-point locking system (standard)

or a door with a 3-point automatic locking system (extra cost of 160€) that automatically locks itself but can always be opened from the inside.

The disadvantage of the 3-point automatic locking is that it only has 3 locking bolts instead of 5.

The advantage is that the door is always locked, so you don’t have to remember to lock it.

Has anyone had experience with the automatic locking system?

Which door would you recommend?

@pagoni2020 no, I’m not referring to you 🙂

I believe he meant me. However, I explicitly stated that I did not want a lock like that.

I have household members who struggle with locking the door regularly.

Well, that used to be a fundamental part of upbringing, just like turning off the lights 🤨. To follow the black-and-white thinking completely, I'll add that everything was better in the past anyway, you young rascals.

That settles the discussion.

You probably need to be that clear with those in your household who don’t lock the door—they don’t listen any better 😀

Someone seems a bit offended here.
I did say everyone is free to do as they like. It didn’t sound like that the other way around.
Anyway. I like our lock and have managed just fine without one before.
So what.

Seriously, I don’t understand why such a trivial topic causes a mood swing just because of a different opinion. Whether or not I was meant here, I honestly didn’t read any resentment or anything like that anywhere. I think it’s important and appropriate when someone says that some things just aren’t necessary.
I might have considered it if it had been explained to me, maybe I would have enjoyed it. But I don’t see any need to take care of it on my own initiative. Similar to the much-discussed video systems at the front door here. I was interested for a while until a kind person from the forum gave me a clear and quick insight, after which I chose a technically simple but tactilely very nice solution.
Criticism must be possible, but resentment not—that’s a big difference.

Life is possible without an automatic lock, but it’s not worth it. Or was it the dog?

Great, I’ve already planned that for us.

Actually, I didn't address anyone in particular. I admit, it was more of an impulsive comment.
I just find it remarkable that often (at least in my experience) people like us are somewhat looked down upon when such equipment is installed. Terms like "absurd" and similar are used.
On the other hand, I rarely see anyone questioned about why no automation systems are installed.
Why should they be? Everyone is free to do as they please.

What I also find questionable is that a circuit board is being criticized. I hope the houses of those who criticize have environmentally neutral footprints.

Not my fault ;-)

But thanks to automatic locking, I won’t be able to pass on that knowledge anymore.

You probably need to tell your family members who don’t lock doors that clearly, but they don’t listen either.

Talking is one thing. I can’t hold anyone’s hand. Now it’s solved technically—the door locks automatically.
