Hello everyone,
unfortunately, it seems that the screed heating schedule was set incorrectly in our case.

Here is how it was handled:
3 days at 25°C (77°F)
20 days heating up at 1K per day
3 days at 45°C (113°F)
20 days cooling down at 1K per day

We are now already in the cooling down phase. I am not an expert, but I have already informed the site manager. He said it’s fine and that there is no need to heat it up again. I am starting to get the feeling that he doesn’t really know what he is talking about. At the very least, during the cooling down phase at 1K per day, I feel that I need to speak up...

Meanwhile, our tilers and floor layers are waiting...
Actually, everything should have been finished by now. (We have bought the floor covering up to the screed)

What should we do?
The site manager doesn’t show up on site either. He hasn’t even been around the drywall installers or the plumbers.

To make matters worse, a taped heating pipe has come loose and is visible on the surface of the screed...
This was reported two weeks ago, but nothing has been done.

I would appreciate any advice...

Thank you!

Who told you the program was set up incorrectly?

In our case, the heating was done somewhat "improperly." By that, I mean the heating protocol provided by the screed manufacturer was ignored. The screed installer apparently followed some other guidelines, but the heating engineer just did it "as usual." The site manager only mentioned at one point that the screed installer is responsible for warranty, so it's basically their problem. At the end of the actual program, the screed was ready for tiling but needed additional drying heat for the parquet flooring. In the end, the result was fine. There are absolutely no cracks, and the parquet has not detached. Everything’s good. 🙂

Then just leave it to people who know what they’re doing. 😉

That would worry me more, though.

A photo would help here...

If by "heating pipe" you mean the underfloor heating pipe (there are hook-and-loop systems that are supposed to hold these pipes on the insulation layer beneath), this is not good. There is a minimum covering layer that is called that for good reason. It must be strictly adhered to for various reasons. If the photo confirms my suspicion, I would not accept this. It is questionable how this can be repaired. For floor build-ups, KlaRa is the expert! Maybe they could also advise on underfloor heating?

Hello everyone,
sorry for the late reply and first of all, thanks for the responses.

I’ve attached two pictures that show the problem.
What would be the best way to solve this?

Regarding this issue, the fact that the heating installers have never commissioned such a system before, and generally that I always have to spot problems instead of the site manager, I wanted to ask about the sensitive topic of screed: can the heating program really be correct like this? In all other reports I read 5-10°C/day (9-18°F/day), here it’s 1°C/day (2°F/day), which seems quite different.

Looking forward to your answers.

Best regards
Faddl

How should this ideally be resolved?

If that is indeed a heating pipe, my preferred solution would be to remove the screed and replace it. Even though it is unfortunate for whoever caused this mess.

Or at least remove the screed, secure the conduit, and repair the screed.
