A timber construction company once recommended architectureLIVE! to us because they handle the planning, adapt it to the terrain data, and have relatively accurate cost estimates from various construction companies. This way, you can clearly see which companies are suitable and what the costs will be. The offer costs around 10,000 euros. Since we really have to manage without our KfW subsidy and will have to make compromises here and there, it might be interesting because you can change the size and get updated cost calculations right away. However, the focus is on timber construction (in our case, the “basement” must be masonry).
I am, however, skeptical about whether a) it is worth it, b) the price is justified, and c) we have an architect with whom we have not yet signed a contract but who has already done a lot of preliminary work for us. Any input on this?

We completed our entire planning process with ArchitekturLIVE (including the building permit / planning permission) and are very satisfied! We were also introduced to ArchitekturLIVE by a timber frame builder (probably the same one as you), but in the end, we chose a different construction partner, which was no problem at all.
The cost estimate naturally includes the basement to be concreted. However, you only receive a rough price range—the final price is then calculated by the construction company based on the design plans.
It was pretty cool to walk through our house with a VR headset—at least until I started feeling a bit sick :p
In short: friendly team, everything has worked out great so far, and I would do it again. However, I would ask again about the 10,000 cost. That seems quite high to me.

How much were the services from ArchitekturLIVE?
Sounds interesting at first...
Good luck
Thomas
The preliminary design was priced as a flat fee of €1,500.
For the final plans (adapted to Baufritz) and the building permit application, it was another 5,000 euros each (net). The building permit was absolutely straightforward (one or two measurements were questioned by the local building authority and then adjusted accordingly).
However, the drainage planning was not included and was done by an external engineering firm.
I can’t say whether these prices still apply after more than two years.
As I said, everything went really well back then. Since the beginning of November, we have been living in our house and are super happy!
