Hello

I know there are different components to achieve KfW55 standards. However, I would be interested to know if this wall construction is at least sufficient for a new build:

  • 17.5 cm (7 inches) aerated concrete block
  • 14 cm (5.5 inches) mineral wool insulation
  • 2 cm (0.8 inches) air gap
  • 11.5 cm (4.5 inches) facing brick

It is a townhouse with 2 full stories. What does A/V mean?

Because it is stated that way in a quote and I want to know if it is a good or bad offer.

Yes, you probably need to increase the insulation to 18cm (7 inches). I would also use sand-lime brick if you are going for a cavity wall anyway.

Whether it is a good offer: see forum search "11ant Steinemantra". And exactly for that reason, I would neither change the dimensions nor replace any of the "components." Don’t choose a wall construction that the supplier doesn’t build in at least three out of eight houses. This basically applies not only to interior walls!

If this is a townhouse with 2 full stories, then I wonder how cautious my planners/structural engineers were to suggest using a 2.0 KS24 solid brick, when a 17.5 Pröselkeks would also have worked. Now the 2 stories are built, and when I directly compare the garage (24cm (9.5 inches) aerated concrete) to the house, I’ve always been worried that the garage might eventually crumble under the weight of the solid ceiling. 😀

As mentioned above: It’s not always just about the structural engineering. 😉

Putin’s tanks would have to fire twice to get through the wall. And you can barely hear the first shot because of the good sound insulation provided by the 24cm (9.5 inches) sand-lime bricks.
