Hello, I have a question and would appreciate any experience or feedback.

I would like to use a storage room (as it is indicated in the building plan) as living space. Does anyone know if there is a chance to get approval for this?

The storage room is practically inside the house; it is not a separate building.

The area is about 45 m² (484 sq ft).

Thank you in advance, and I wish you all a great time!

Kind regards,
Raul

Do you own the property, or are you just renting?

There are two answers, one correct and one pragmatic. Applies if you are the owner.

1. Submit a building permit or change of use application and renovate the space.
==> correct approach

2. Simply renovate and use the space as a living area. If nobody complains, there is no problem. A storage room can also be fully finished without being an official living space. However, when selling the house, you can only market it as storage space.

If the storage room is located on the boundary with the neighbor: a clear no.
Everything else depends on the building authority
-> Apply for a change of use.

Good day, thank you very much!
