Dear all,
We are planning to build a house with a small granny flat (only on the ground floor), preferably in a simple country house style, possibly with divided light windows. Our plot is 1200sqm (13,000 sqft) at the edge of a forest. We have worked a bit on the floor plan. We would like to have a gable end with a captain’s gable on the right side towards the back and extend the right side by about 3-4m (10-13 ft) to create a large kitchen space. The living room is rather small because we tend to spend most of our time at the kitchen table.
Today we visited a prefab house company to get an idea of how the process works.
Our preference is for divided light windows and a wooden front door. The supplier could not offer the first option, not even in a modern version with a one-third/two-thirds division in aluminum windows or applied grids. However, we do not want to give this up. I wonder if other companies will be the same? Does anyone have a recommendation for a builder who offers this and allows for custom designs?
Solid construction is also welcome!

In northern Germany, we built a house like this with Tönjes and Meichsner. They are a recommended construction company. The site manager was sometimes a bit overwhelmed, but a great guy on a personal level. Overall, really good people who did a good job.
However, their work is mainly around their company headquarters in Lower Saxony.

EcoHaus definitely does that. Although I wouldn't necessarily recommend the company. Otherwise, you could look for a general contractor (GC) who, for example, offers mullioned windows. The wooden door can then be made by an external company. We also excluded interior and exterior doors from the scope of work. They are made of wood but are more modern than country-style 🙂

What are those four special bricks on the right, directly above the eaves?

They were temporarily stored there for the photovoltaic system—those are the ones that allow cables to pass through. The solar installer decided not to use them in the end and used a different technique instead. At my request, T&M replaced them with standard bricks and took them back. 🙂

Yes, we will also take a look at eco Haus. Our architect is currently designing the floor plan, and with that and the construction specification, we will approach companies to get comparable offers. The planning processes with the companies vary so much (we tried with Hanse Haus, and they came up with an allegedly huge amount, and they were completely shocked about the muntin windows).
Yes, the plot is classified as building land up to the last 10 cm (4 inches) at the back, bordering the forest (residential area).
Why can’t you recommend eco?

Hmm, but shouldn’t windows and doors necessarily come from the house builder?
