ᐅ What does a well-designed wardrobe or entryway storage look like?

Hello everyone,

We have been living in our house for a few months now. However, the wardrobe area is still a makeshift puzzle. I would really like something custom here. We have plenty of space (approximately 2 meters (6.5 feet) wide and about 4.5 meters (15 feet) long), so many options are possible.

I would love to hear from you what you consider essential for a successful wardrobe area and what might have been a disappointment. Two adults and two toddlers.
Pictures and ideas, even somewhat unconventional ones, are very welcome 🙂

Thank you very much

@allstar83 .. it would probably be more polite and productive if you shared your ideas here as well. There aren’t that many options anyway, and why should everyone write the same things if you already have a clear idea? Also, this way people can get a better sense of your approach. And a photo of the entrance situation wouldn’t hurt either.

Our hallway will soon undergo some changes, as it bothers me to see the jackets and shoes lying around.

I often gather ideas from Ikea Metod hacks.

It will definitely be something wall-mounted :-) because of the robot vacuum...

Do the interior fitting options from PAX fit into Metod, which is supposedly of slightly better quality nowadays?
I don’t think so, due to the different standard widths (40, 60, 80 cm (16, 24, 31.5 inches) vs. 50, 75, 100 cm (20, 30, 39.5 inches))?

We used a built-in design similar to what you find in almost every room. I prefer to keep everything as hidden as possible, with as little visible as necessary. The built-in wardrobe is white and simple.

It measures 2m (6.6 ft) long, 2.7m (8.9 ft) high, and 65cm (26 inches) deep. For the three of us, it is more than enough. There is also some space left for guests. Next to the entrance door, a bench and a mirror will be added soon (not visible in the picture).

That won’t work because of the different widths.
However, I don’t believe Metod is of better quality than PAX.

I have an old coat rack from a café standing in my hallway. For me, it’s the opposite of @tomtom79: having everything inside cupboards would drive me crazy. The coat rack is very practical. I can just hang everything on it, including wet jackets and such. My shoes are stored in a closed Ivar system next to it.
