Hello, I would like to ask for your opinion on whether you can visually identify asbestos in this mortar? It was around a stainless steel chimney door. The door seemed relatively new to me, but I am not sure. I could not see any fibers with the naked eye, but I am not an expert. I understand that a laboratory analysis might be necessary.
However, I would really appreciate a visual assessment. Thank you!

To be honest: who really cares? If (and that’s a big if) asbestos was present, you would need dust to inhale fibers. And with such tiny amounts—if any at all—that’s not really a concern.

I once read that even a single fiber can be enough.

Seriously, that’s nonsense.
