On the mentioned day, there is a German feature film starring Moretti: the house. The film is set in a beautiful, modern, and minimalist house and revolves around the surprises of smart home technology. For some, the house will probably be more interesting than the content of the film 😉

Is this in Germany, or perhaps in Scandinavia?

The house referenced in the title is located in Stavsnäs, near Stockholm.

I watched the movie tonight as well.
My conclusion: beautiful landscape, great view. Not a place for me. The island was how long? About 30-50m (100-165 feet) or so. Completely unrealistic for a private home.
The house felt lifeless, uncaring, uncomfortable, and impersonal.
The story itself was very sensational. It’s not really about a house, but about the fictional possibilities of where our current society might lead us. Quite understandably frightening.
As for the main character, “the house,” complete nonsense. Nobody would want something like that. Drawers that open by themselves, doors that make you wait awkwardly long before you can pass through. Overall, the “AI” was utterly stupid. Terminator comes to mind.
Okay for popcorn entertainment, but hardly to be taken seriously otherwise.

Well, not as unrealistic as one might think. In the Caribbean, the Bahamas, and also in the South Pacific, there are islands not much larger than that where people live.

The house from the movie is actually located on a peninsula about 100m x 100m (330 x 330 feet) in size.

I get that. I’ve vacationed on islands like that before. But is it a realistic private home?
Maybe for a database manager. For us and most others, probably not.
But that doesn’t change anything about the movie.

Well, it is set in the near future, not today. Furthermore, in the film, it is presented not so much as a family home but more as a retreat.

As a rental property (if you disregard the smart technology) for a married couple consisting of a lawyer and a successful reporter, I don’t think that is particularly far-fetched.
