Hello, we have an air-to-water heat pump mounted on the exterior wall of our house.

After about 5 years, I have the impression that the pump is starting to vibrate more and more, and these vibrations naturally transfer into the house, causing disturbance. When the pump is running, if you touch the window from inside, you can clearly feel the glass vibrating.

My question is: How can I, as a layperson, reduce these vibrations? Would it help to realign the heating system?

The device must be positioned as horizontally as possible, preferably on machine feet, meaning rubber-mounted.

It is completely normal for it to become louder and for vibrations to increase over time, as bearings and other components wear out.

Place them on the floor? A foundation with thick rubber feet on top, which are actually offered by almost every heat pump manufacturer. They look like parking stops...

I wouldn’t hesitate for 5 seconds and would place the unit directly on the ground.

Can I manage this without a certified refrigerant technician? Because I can’t commission the system since the refrigerant line is already connected.

It depends on whether you still have enough refrigerant line to relocate the unit. Alternatively, you can build the foundation base exactly to fit the current installation position.
