Hello,
our idea is to build an urban villa with a hipped roof (approximately 22° roof pitch) with two full stories.
Now I have come across the topic of roof overhang. One supplier described 15cm (6 inches) as sufficient. After researching online, I found that besides the appearance, protecting the facade from moisture and providing shading are also positive aspects.
What do you think?

Anything larger than 50 will look like a mushroom.I agree, but I would just like to see something finished at 30 sometime 🙂

I'll show you 50cm (20 inches). I think it’s just right, except that I will probably paint the underside white (or gray) in a year or two:Good heavens, what a disaster! Accentuating the thick cornice boxes by contrasting them in color almost looks like overly extended drag queen eyebrows! Who took down the scaffolding too early there? In addition, it looks like the plaster is finished on one hand, while on the other the base still lacks waterproof coating. It seems to me that the coordination got completely mixed up :-(

Yes, the funny thing is they asked the neighbors whether white or wood, but they never asked me.
The scaffolding was removed on the day the exterior plaster was finished.
However, the base has now been treated with waterproof slurry and a bituminous primer. Unfortunately, the wrong type was used (not crack-bridging).
So it will be taken down and redone, this time with a thick bitumen coating. But only when the weather is suitable again. See my thread...
