Hello,

we have now completed the planning of our kitchen.

Now we are working on the installation plan for our builder.

1. Question: How many water connections are usually installed in a kitchen? One for the sink and one for the dishwasher, or do they typically share one?

2. Question: What do you think about a side-by-side refrigerator with a fixed water connection?

We believe a fixed water connection is the better and more convenient solution for a refrigerator with an ice maker.

Can the refrigerator be connected to the same water line, or does it definitely need its own separate fixed water connection?

The dishwasher is about 80cm (31 inches) away from the refrigerator, and the sink is about 150cm (59 inches) away. So, for the refrigerator, we would need a hose of about 150cm (59 inches). Is that still short enough?

Is there also an AquaStop option available for the refrigerator hose?

Basically, it doesn't really matter whether the water is in the pipe inside the wall or in the hose in front of the wall.

The standard setup usually involves a direct connection, but if you have a separate angle valve, I would make sure it doesn't prevent the side-by-side refrigerator from being placed close to the wall. For example, we used an extra-flat valve to avoid any collision.

My pipe is installed at 3 m (10 feet), with no issues so far. It is connected to the sink and dishwasher. I wouldn’t want to be without the water connection anymore. It would be perfect if the side-by-side refrigerator also had a carbon dioxide connection...

The question is whether a water dispenser is really necessary. You should consider if you have a side-by-side refrigerator with water and ice dispenser because a) it is offered or others have it, or b) you actually use and need it yourself. It seems to me that a) occurs more often than b). So, question the whole issue. 😎

We have a freezer with a fresh water connection in the pantry, and we are very happy with it.
You should consider that a side-by-side refrigerator is deeper than a standard refrigerator.

I’ve always been the ice cube type! It’s a luxury I enjoy and wouldn’t want to miss anymore.

We also have a French door refrigerator (which I find much more practical than a side-by-side fridge) with a direct water connection. After 1 1/2 years of use, I can say we made the right choice. It was only at the beginning of December that I turned off the ice maker, which had been used regularly until then. Especially the kids use it frequently, and in summer it’s really great to have, for example, iced tea with crushed ice.

We had also thought for a long time about whether to use a direct connection or a tank. But honestly, the supply hose is so thin that only a minimal amount of water stands still in it, whereas a 3-liter (0.8-gallon) tank may sit unused for a whole week and then needs thorough cleaning... Since our refrigerator is located opposite the kitchen counter, a dedicated water line with a short branch (about 1 meter (3 feet)) was installed, which is no problem at all.
