Hello everyone,

We will have tiles installed on the ground floor. We originally planned to have the baseboard made from the same tile material.

However, someone suggested using a simple white wooden baseboard instead.

How did you solve this? Photos are welcome 🙂

Thank you!

PS: Please no general discussions about tiles as flooring.

I wouldn’t like that combination; I would prefer to stick with the same building material. Maybe a white trim matching the wall color, but having wooden trims and then a different wall would probably not appeal to me.

We have tiles with wooden baseboards in the hallway and kitchen downstairs, and tile baseboards in the utility room and guest bathroom. The same upstairs: tiles with wooden baseboards in the hallway and rooms, and tile baseboards in the bathroom. The tiles upstairs are wood-look (except in the bathroom).
In my opinion, tile baseboards look “cold,” sterile, and uninviting in living areas.

Hallway with black and white tiles, stairs on the right, white door straight ahead, bench on the left.

Ha, 2 replies and 2 opposing opinions 😀
We will also have a very subtle wood-look tile in 30x120 cm (12x48 inches). Just adding that as a note.
In the bathroom, the tile baseboard is also installed.

@Georgian2019: Do you happen to have a photo showing how the tiles look with the wood baseboard?

From my perspective, it’s simple: generally, tile should be matched with tile and wood with wood. With a special pattern or texture, like in the picture from @Georgian2019, there can of course be good reasons to deviate from this "rule." Ultimately, whatever looks good is allowed.

We are also going with a very subtle wood-look tile in 30x120cm (12x47 inches). Just adding that as a reference.
In the bathroom, the tile baseboard is already installed.

I hope it’s somewhat visible in the picture. The wood-look tiles appear very realistic (mahogany).

White bookshelf with many books in the living room; next to it a sofa with patterned cushions.
