Good morning,

I am considering creating checklists and quick guides for "homebuilding novices" to provide a framework for basic questions about construction technology and expected quality levels, enabling people to form their own understanding.

Therefore, my question is whether this would be helpful to you and what scope such a resource should have in your opinion.

I would appreciate it if you could participate in the survey.
Please select below which checklist would be useful to you. Is something important missing? Feel free to add it in the comments 🙂

There is still quite a gap between a “checklist” for personal use and an “app that a certified expert also uses.” ;-)

I would find the latter more useful, but it is also considerably more complex.

I find the latter more useful, but it is also sufficiently complex.

It usually starts with checklists and can then be expanded.
I would first like to get some feedback on the general guidance.

I think an app with image recognition would be difficult to implement.

I would find the latter more helpful, but it is naturally much more complex as well.

I feel exactly the opposite: instructions for using a defibrillator for first responders are useful, but a handbook titled “the little heart surgeon, even without medical training” is nonsense and not a suitable design goal for the product.

I like checklists, although I would prefer “ten commandments” (to help the decision-maker determine whether to call in a specialist) over “50 tips” (which are better suited for the specialist). “101 Dalmatians” would clearly overshoot the mark. Basically, I would be happy to include something like that in my shop.

What exactly? Lists?

Basically, it's great that we can have some discussions!

Yes, checklists. With statements easy enough for non-experts to verify, only individual points, no fault trees or flowcharts (those require prior knowledge or practice), printed single-sided on A4 paper (8.3 x 11.7 inches). Clipboard, folding rule or tape measure, spirit level, credit card, two-euro coin, thumb, carpenter’s pencil, maybe painter’s tape and flashlight—no more tools should be needed. Everything manageable without necessarily requiring a webinar and also without assistance.

I think the idea is great. In our case, my husband also gets very deeply involved in the topic, and we do quite a bit of the renovation work ourselves. So I find lists like these very helpful as support and food for thought.
