Hello,

we received a quote for our kitchen.

The kitchen has the following features: Nobilia white high-gloss, handleless.
All wall cabinets open upwards.
The rest mainly consists of drawers and few cabinet doors (and one corner cabinet).

We decided on a granite countertop. What are your experiences with granite countertops?
We only know advantages, with price being the only downside.

All appliances are Siemens IQ700. What do you think of them? They should be good quality, right?
Induction cooktop, 80 or 90 cm (31 or 35 inches)?

Thank you very much for your opinions.

A hood can definitely be chosen externally. There is no need to rely on the kitchen design for that.

So you would say that I should choose a more powerful extractor hood than the Siemens IQ300 for an open kitchen?

We definitely need to go with recirculation first.

Would you recommend the one from Berbel?
What do you think about Miele?

Which other manufacturers offer very good recirculation hoods with a good price/performance ratio? Noise level is, of course, also important for an open kitchen.

I have actually been completely banned before for referring to other f o r u m s. But even in your case, there are specific groups elsewhere that focus solely on kitchens and appliances.

P.S. Berbel is amazing!

Does it have to be the Ergoline model from Berbel, or would the Smartline be sufficient? $2,000 for a range hood is quite steep. The oven and induction cooktop together also add up to $2,000.

What advantages do the Berbel recirculating hoods have compared to other brands, especially since Berbel is often promoted as non-plus-ultra?

I would like to know that too. I never really cared much about range hoods, and somehow we've never felt the need to say "our range hood is just bad..." so far, they were never anything special either, mostly just the basic models.

Berbel has built a solid reputation; their products are found almost everywhere and are often presented as the top of the range in stores. I can’t judge whether their main claim, "centrifugal force without grease filters," is truly unique and better. However, many people seem very satisfied with it. Falmec promotes that they manufacture the only recirculation hoods that purify the air through ionization. We have one of these hoods, but I can’t say for sure if it’s better. Occasionally, the hood seems to detect poor air quality and starts ionizing. Faber uses what they call "Nautilus Technology," promising higher efficiency with lower energy consumption. All brands claim to be quiet or extremely quiet. Well, somehow all hoods make some noise at head height.
Making a safe decision to get the best value for money is not easy with all this marketing talk. Probably that’s why so many people choose Berbel — there are simply many references and a strong general consensus.
