Hello,

we received a quote for our kitchen.

The kitchen has the following features: Nobilia white high-gloss, handleless.
All wall cabinets open upwards.
The rest mainly consists of drawers and few cabinet doors (and one corner cabinet).

We decided on a granite countertop. What are your experiences with granite countertops?
We only know advantages, with price being the only downside.

All appliances are Siemens IQ700. What do you think of them? They should be good quality, right?
Induction cooktop, 80 or 90 cm (31 or 35 inches)?

Thank you very much for your opinions.

So, the steam cooking function is really great. Our oven also has 4D hot air, but it has not been used yet.

We also had an oven with all sorts of features that were rarely or never used; the focus was on cooking the food. In the new house, a simpler stove with telescopic rails and a pyrolytic self-cleaning function.

Does anyone have experience with 4D hot air?
I've already used it with three ovens. It’s well-functioning hot air circulation.

Can it replace an air fryer?
No more than any other convection oven.
Besides, air fryers are rubbish. Not comparable at all to a proper fryer (except for some professional single-unit fryers).

Unfortunately, I have no experience with this, but I have decided that although I would like to have it, I don’t need it and definitely don’t want to pay for it (unless Black Friday offers something).
I like this answer, so I’ll use it as a reference:
I’m surprised by some of the responses. Because granite is not just granite. There are different qualities that vary in price and appearance. There’s the cheaper type, which you might recognize from black-and-white kitchens of the 1980s, but also much more delicate patterns that look more premium and cost accordingly more. On top of that, mass-produced Chinese products are often offered at a low price but don’t have the quality you would expect from “granite.” This was also mentioned in #3.
Otherwise, granite is a natural material… I have it as a windowsill and wouldn’t recommend it for a kitchen countertop. Acids and alkalis leave lasting marks.

Not all granite is the same

Wood isn’t all the same, and laminate panels aren’t all the same either.
This applies to almost every product, every material, and many other situations in life. 😉

In theory, you shouldn’t even argue about basic properties.
Someone who sells me cheap granite from China probably won’t sell me the highest-quality laminate panel either.
What looks good to each person is, of course, subjective. I don’t like many types of granite myself. I consider Nero Assoluto very timeless, whether polished or honed. But it doesn’t have to appeal to everyone.

In 15 years with a flamed Nero finish, I’ve never had problems, not even acid stains. But I also don’t leave lemon juice puddles on it for days:p

I have another question regarding the induction cooktop and the range hood.

Currently, we have planned for an 80cm (31.5 inch) induction cooktop. Do you think 80cm (31.5 inch) is sufficient, or should we definitely go for 90cm (35.4 inch)?

The second question is, if we choose the 80cm (31.5 inch) cooktop, should we also get an 80cm (31.5 inch) range hood, or is it better to go for a slightly larger one, like 90cm (35.4 inch)?
