Dear forum members,
I am about to place an order of over 1000 EUR for Alpenkalk products (approximately for 500 m² (5400 sq ft) of primer and 600 m² (6500 sq ft) of paint plus some accessories). Normally, I like to do some research beforehand.
So: Does anyone have practical experience with this?
How are the delivery times, quality, customer service in case of issues, coverage, color fastness, paintability, odor, and abrasion resistance?
What alternatives would you recommend and why?
Thanks and best regards
Tolentino

pagoni202024 Nov 2021 11:03@Tolentino You know I’m not trying to discourage you, it’s just that my recent experience has been like this, and as you also know, it’s become a priority for me that things actually work. I’ve already received enough ladles of that other stuff... 🤨
We ended up having the plasterer paint the tall walls at short notice so that progress could finally be made here, and suddenly he said there wouldn’t be enough paint and that he needed it t-o-d-a-y 😱.
By the way, today there are five tradespeople working here at the same time again, it’s very busy everywhere right now... the six-month quiet period on site is finally over. Today it’s facade and base coat plaster, and this weekend excavating for the driveway and stairs. 😀

We are also planning to use Keim paint. @pagoni2020 do you really only need one coat for new construction, or are two better? The painter said (of course) that this organic stuff is no good, and that his paint lasts longer. He might be right, bitumen paint or car lacquer would probably have lasted even better. 😱
He mixed the primer into the first coat (which painters often do) and then applied a second coat. However... in the end, you have to see for yourself. We have two coats on lime plaster (one of them including primer). On the concrete ceiling in the kitchen, there is white Keim paint, where one coat would have been sufficient, but a second one is needed now because the plaster edges were removed. Unfortunately, in our case, various sequences were often not followed because the tradespeople were suddenly leaving the site.
Haha, car paint is also a great idea 😀
Thanks for sharing your experience! I’m looking forward to the reports from @Tolentino about Alpine lime. According to our construction schedule, we will only start painting in August 22, so we still have some time before placing the order 🙂

So, I used Keim paint for everything. I plastered the walls with Biosil, then applied an Innostar paint over painter’s fleece. One coat was not enough, so I painted everything twice. I bought everything online from the retailer offering the best price at the time.
So far, I am satisfied, although I don’t have a direct comparison.

I’m really looking forward to this and have planned for one coat of paint so far.
If necessary, I’ll just reorder, which would also be a good test of the delivery speed. You can dilute the paint with 10% water, which I would do for a second coat if needed.
By the way, express delivery is only available via DHL, which is the standard method for all quantities up to 10 buckets.
Once an order exceeds that amount, it will be shipped by freight carrier, which will likely be the case with my initial order. I actually prefer that, as it allows me to arrange a delivery appointment directly at the house.
