Hello... we have the following issue. Since we don’t want too many different window heights in the house and also don’t find the transition from a 130cm (51 inches) sill height to a low window in the same room or at the junctions particularly attractive, we are facing the above-mentioned problem. Actually, I’m not even sure if it’s really a problem.

Smialbuddler23 Nov 2021 18:02Do you have small children? They won’t be able to see outside at all with a height of 130cm (51 inches). And you will have much less view, none at all when sitting.
Regarding brightness: The higher the window sill, the farther away from the window even direct sunlight will reach when the sun is high. Think about the angles.

The study will have a strip of windows from above, for example, above the desk area – this provides very pleasant natural lighting as long as it’s bright outside.
Due to the parapet of the flat roof, the roof surfaces are not visible from the outside as a design feature.
A nice but somewhat energy-consuming option is an access to the roof, for example from the hallway, so that the skylight can be cleaned from time to time.
Of course, the window area then reduces the available space for rooftop photovoltaic panels.

Meeting all aspects is not easy, and that’s exactly our problem. @ypg But don’t you think a 265cm (105 inches) and a 201cm (79 inches) window won’t let in enough light?A narrow slit never lets in as much light as a surface opening or “hole.”A
audiophilone23 Nov 2021 18:12No, we don’t have children, but if we do in the future, the children’s room has a window with a 90cm (35 inch) sill height. The view doesn’t bother us because we have large windows on the ground floor for that. Well, I think with a sill height of 130cm (51 inch) and a window height of 90cm (35 inch), there is still plenty of indirect light coming in.
