ᐅ Tips for Electrical Installation

Hello forum,

We are building a city villa with a general contractor. According to the construction description, a basic standard electrical installation is included. However, this is obviously not sufficient.

I am currently thinking about where additional power outlets and such should be placed. Furthermore, I am considering what other connections would be practical and smart to have.

Do you have any tips for me? Installations that should be planned in advance because they cannot be added later but would make life easier?

For example: I plan to install four outdoor cameras. I would like to be able to monitor them online while away. This means the recorder, which I want to place in the utility room, also needs to be connected to the network. What should I pay attention to?

For your information: I also plan to set up a small server cabinet with a patch panel and switches in the utility room.

I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks and regards

Lighting for under-sink cabinets? Is it necessary?

Of course, it’s not necessary.
However, I recently visited several bathroom showrooms and noticed that many of them feature it extensively. So it’s something to consider if you want that kind of lighting.

Regarding power outlets in window recesses: if you currently have manual roller shutters and might want to upgrade to electric belt drives later, it makes sense to have an outlet there.

Does it make women feel safer?

With the press of a button, a predefined state is triggered throughout the entire house.

For example:
At night, you are lying in bed and hear someone in the house, causing you to panic.

Button pressed.
Lights turn on everywhere.
Music blasts loudly from the speakers.
The blinds go down.
The police are alerted.
And so on.
You can customize it however you like.

Well, our panic switch by the bed will only activate the exterior lighting.

Cool, I really hadn't heard of that before. It immediately gives me thousands of ideas...

Thousands of ideas are not a bad thing, but without home automation, they are usually difficult or only possible with great effort.
