Hello everyone,
we are currently planning the living and dining area of our condominium. Construction has not started yet, so we have complete freedom regarding the connections and placement of the kitchen.
The floor plan of the room is somewhat challenging, and I’m not sure if we might be overcomplicating the initial planning. Therefore, we would greatly appreciate any tips on how to best design and divide the space.
The room needs to accommodate: kitchen, dining table, sofa + projector or TV.
Notes on the planning:
- The screen in the center is to be mounted on the ceiling and only lowered when watching movies.
- The table should be pushed all the way against the wall in normal use and only pulled further into the room when there are many guests, so that additional people can sit on the bench. (I have attached one version for 8 people and one for 6 people.)
Do you have any other ideas to make the best use of the space? The kitchen island is not absolutely necessary, but due to the pillar, the use of the room seems rather limited from my perspective.
Best regards and thanks for your help

In these wardrobe cabinets, which match the kitchen design. The rest goes in your hobby room 🙂
Where? Either where it is marked or above the pillar. Both options affect the space differently.
The cabinet to the right hides the hallway and makes the kitchen appear larger. The cabinet above the pillar narrows the kitchen and focuses attention on the entrance. I understood the part about matching the kitchen design. So you would place 180cm (6 feet) cabinets with a depth of 60cm (2 feet) in the hallway? I still don’t quite see how this would elongate the kitchen ... 🙂 I tried to illustrate it in Visio — do you mean like the area marked in red?

Which size (and drawing) is the correct one? — don’t forget: in your apartment you may rearrange many things, but you can’t move the shaft that runs through multiple floors. The plan with the larger bathroom is the current one.
I also need to finalize the ceiling spotlights soon so the suspended ceiling can be prepared. There are mixed opinions about this here in the forum. I was thinking of placing them in the entrance area, bathroom, and kitchen. Or would you recommend something different? There are also track lighting systems available.
Regards and thanks

In the entrance area, we were thinking of a bench with storage and an additional shoe cabinet. Above the bench, a clothes rail mounted to the ceiling to hang jackets on hangers. I thought that a cabinet with a depth of 60 cm (24 inches) might be too large for the hallway and could feel overwhelming right when entering.
Later, I will meet with the kitchen planner to discuss the next draft. The kitchen is currently designed with dark colors – we’ll have to see if that doesn’t make it feel too dark or oppressive.

And you can draw your red line there, but only up to the wall between the kitchen and bathroom. I understood that. Since the sofa can only be placed meaningfully in one way because of the TV, the access to the kitchen has to be exactly at that point. That’s why we prefer a galley kitchen.
An image of the initial plan looks like this.
The kitchen has already changed somewhat, and the cooktop has been moved toward the living room side (which is slightly deeper). I have a visualization of this (created by the kitchen studio). May I post it here?
Hello everyone,
I have now visited 3 different kitchen studios that were recommended by friends. All of them were really good, and I felt comfortable with each – quite a tough choice. 🙂 Apart from different built-in appliances, the kitchens are very similar (also in price). There are two designs each with Leicht kitchens and two with Schüller kitchens. In this context: I got the impression that the Leicht front (Bondi) shows significantly fewer fingerprints than the Schüller front. Was that just the lighting, or are the differences really that noticeable?
Otherwise, we are currently experimenting with the best way to arrange the furniture. The living and dining area is really challenging 🙂 We have four different layout options. Do you perhaps have other ideas? We would like a 1.80 meter (6 feet) dining table with six seats, but maybe the space simply isn’t suitable. Variant D, therefore, has a 1.4 meter (4.5 feet) table with four seats.
Regards and thanks

Why are you asking here instead of in the appropriate forum (kitchen furniture subforum), where people who have been selling both LEICHT and Schüller for years hang out? I have no idea how many members in this forum actually have a LEICHT kitchen and can share their experience. Also, your information and pictures are not very detailed. LEICHT is higher quality than Schüller and offers features that Schüller does not. If you compare like with like, LEICHT is likely to be more expensive.
